Compassion Fatigue, or feeling tired from caring too much, is the result of caring for others without practicing good self-care.
The symptoms include feeling isolated from others, excessive blaming, bottled up emotions, substance abuse, apathy and a host of other signs that something is wrong.

This silent epidemic is draining our healthcare system of the very people it needs to offer compassionate care. As someone wise once told us, if you have your front door (heart) open, it's important to learn ways to open the back door...or all the grief gets stuck in the middle.
